O Canada
Patti 0:17
Music, Hi and welcome to episode 394
of no crying in baseball, the Oh Canada episode. My name is Patty. I'm here with my friend. Patti mouth, hey, potty mouth,
Pottymouth 0:26
hey there. Do you know all the words do not,
Patti 0:29
I do not. And I really, I need to, yeah, many reasons, many reasons. But it is my favorite national anthem. I bring it up because of recent cross training this weekend. That's what I figured events. You probably have seen this if you did not see it happen. It's the Four Nations tournament in hockey right now, and with Team USA playing Team Canada,
the crowd in in Canada roundly and loudly booed the national anthem when, when you know, before the Canada, USA game, highly appropriate, I think absolutely. And of course, the USA players that were interviewed, I think, were kind of of a type, they took it personally, as opposed to having some perspective, like, no, no, they didn't boo US players when you came onto the ice, right? They booed the symbol of, you know, of the government of the United States, right? And it's not even like the usual, like, you know what? We don't feel comfortable with the anthem. It's the specific, like, the US has been antagonistic against our friend Canada. Like, in that is that in itself. And so this has taken off. And this has happened at NHL game. It happened when you know, the Raptors, the the NBA team, was hosting a United States team, and you know, the basketball players get it, yeah, the basketball players are different than the hockey players. Yeah, they have different life experience. They look different. They're from different places, and not 100%
but largely. And they in the ones who were interviewed like, yep, yep, I Yep, yeah, absolutely. You speak your mind, you do your thing. And they understood it wasn't about them as players. It wasn't about their team. It was about the symbol. We're booing, the symbol. I'm curious to see what's going to happen at baseball games in this country. Are more people going to sit down with me? I don't know. That's a good point. The thing that I was happy about was after the booing while a 15 year old was singing the anthem. This is the part that I get squirrely about. I don't want the performers to suffer. They loudly applauded the performer, which is kind of what I do when I set out the my baseball games. I applaud the performance. Yeah, you know, I show my distaste for the symbol, and I applaud the individual or the group that is performing. I'm curious, yeah, to see if it's gonna be more of a thing, probably less so at baseball than, say, a basketball game. Well, in that hockey game too, there were like, three fights in the first nine seconds.
Pottymouth 2:56
Holy fuck.
Patti 2:57
Interestingly, I read an in depth story about in each the first two cases, the American player checked in with checked us. A funny word, you know, kind of asked the the Canadian point, you want to go really? And I think they were just trying to rile up the crowd, which apparently didn't need any riling. But yeah, they sort of like, got consent.
Pottymouth 3:18
Are you willing to fight? Yes. Well, that's if you're gonna fight that you really should get consent.
Patti 3:22
Yeah? So I thought that was kind of entertaining. It absolutely did rile up the crowd or riled up, you know, I want my guys to it. I am patriotic about sports, yeah? I want my teams from here to succeed. I do not care about all those other trappings. I don't endorse those other trappings. It's fun, yeah, well, and in general, like, we have a sportsy friendliness with Canada, you know, sharing teams in the same leagues. It's like we include them in our world series, that they make the World Series, the World Series. I mean, we can't do without them, you know, what if, thank you. Toronto made them a 51st state. We couldn't have a World Series anymore, right? I mean, really, play out, play it out. There's so many repercussions. Yeah. So, you know, I'm curious to see what, what you guys, what you listeners, think about this whole anthem, please. You know, you know how to find us on social media. We'll tell you about that later. I'd love to hear from what you say about these things. Absolutely, absolutely, especially in this, this upcoming year, fun stuff. This weekend. Actually, we had a fun, packed weekend, and I think before the weekend, yeah, it was last week that we watched the comeback. Finally, you know, there's always that, okay, what do we watch tonight that's going to not be anything stressful at all, to get our minds off of the current events, something uplifting, something that's going to make us feel good, and it's usually just trashy comedy, but, or or a documentary that you know how it is there, they're good. No surprises, yeah, yeah, absolutely. So we watched the comeback finally, and it's a three part series. I think it's Netflix, um, but, yeah, Netflix is doing all this shit. Um.
Pottymouth 5:00
But it's about the 2020, wait, 2004 No, 20s. Yeah, I started this actually, maybe we should talk about what we're doing. What are we drinking? It's delicious. It's a temple award cocktail. Cherry deliciousness. Yeah, it's like, it has something cherry in the name. It was a Valentine's eating, yes, cherry and brandy and cardamom. Yeah, sure, but I don't remember what it's called. All right, Hey, folks, just covering my ass for a minute. Here. We had some technical difficulties, so I'm patching this together. So this is my caveat, in case I can't patch it right. But I believe that we are talking about our cocktails, and that we had a lovely cherry cocktail to start off with that was Valentine's themed from from 10th ward. Patty is really carefully trying to figure out what the fuck this cocktail is named, but it's, it's a hard search. So in the meantime, I wasn't as cheery on the cherry, so I opened a Blood Orange Crush, which is like a licorice orange thing, because it's got Absinthe in it. Anyway, I'm, I'm gonna say that this is not why we're having technical difficulties, because I'm on my second cocktail. Will you cheering me? There, I see, I knew there was a will in there, and I knew it was Valentine. Will you cheering me? Alright, so part of our activities this past week watching the comeback and and so this is the story, Netflix story of the 2004 Red Sox. So I knew it was going to end happy. So it was that, like, uplifting thing. I am very curious, and I don't know if anybody out there wants to be a guinea pig. I'm not sure you do. If somebody who's not a Red Sox fan would enjoy it at all. I mean, we enjoyed it heartily, like Loved it, loved it. We were, it was a school night, I believe, and we were gonna watch one of the three episodes, and then just couldn't stop. And so we watched all three. Big takeaway for me is so many potty mouths, like it's so funny to see them, like talking just honestly, but David Ortiz, Pedro, Martinez, Tito Francona, like all of them dropping F bombs all over the place, I was mighty amused. The guy of the hour, it was definitely Kevin Millar. And he What's that show? He's got a sportsy show now, and I can't remember what it's called, but he is just very he speaks his mind like zero filter. And you know that the new Red Sox thing? And God knows how this is going to be about last season, their 5050, season. I don't know how that's gonna stack up to, you know, winning the World Series after an 86 year drought, but from the clip that I saw, I think that Tristan Casas is the new Kevin Millar, like the guy who just talks maybe a little bit too much to get himself in trouble, but is amusing and honest, for sure, and funny and probably dropping a few of the F bombs here and there. You know, I know you were compelled, because that was evening, I was trying desperately to text you because I really needed your attention, all right. And usually you're pretty good, yeah, pretty quick on responding, unless you're, you know, at work. But when you're at home, you're pretty quick and like, it lots of time went by, like, a lot of time, like, okay, maybe you're at a show, maybe you're at a concert, maybe you're at a place where, No, you weren't. I was sucked into the comeback. Oh, I was super sucked in. And you know, part of it that that was amusing in hindsight, there is Pedro Martinez was a vengeful pitcher, like he was, I'm gonna hit you if you fuck with me. And I don't agree with that philosophy, generally, but I was fucking entertained watching Pedro discuss it. Maybe it had something to do with him pegging Jeter, I don't know, but overall it was, I think it was a great series. So I would really, really like to know if anybody also thinks so who doesn't love the Red Sox quite as much as I do. I just added something to my mental bingo card. That's okay, that's okay, okay, that's still forthcoming. My last question for the for the crowd is what drinking for the cycle would be. So we went out on Friday night Valentine stuff, and we first went to a happy hour and had a beer at happy hour. And we went to a movie place where you can bring in alcohol, where they have the Alamo. So we had a beer at the happy hour. Then we got the happy hour priced wine, and brought that into the movie with us. You know, me planning on not having quite as many pea breaks by having switching over to wine. And then we went out for dinner afterwards and got a cocktail. And I thought, Oh, this is like forest of the cycle. What's the last thing? And I said, passing out or not passing No, what's, I don't know. I put it online. And, I mean, I think, I think it's a nightcap once you're back home, okay, but, but of what Susie from, from Bourbon and baseball, said a tequila shot. And I was like, I could do that. Not the last, not as the last one. I thought that could be subbed in early, but the last one needs to be your home. It's a liqueur after dinner drink, you know, a little, a little something, right? Like, you know, I'm looking at the cherry things, yeah, a little brandy ish, like, some sort of, some sort of, like, just after dinner, winding down, like a situation.
Redo, or Bailey's or something, right? Okay, that's what
Patti 10:03
I'm open to. You know, other opinions, absolutely, I think a tequila shot is a viable option for any of the other three. Yes, okay, because that could be a happy hour thing. Sure, you know that could be, we know, although the one with dinner probably not, okay, but, you know, there are two sort of wild card ones in there that can be very flexible. Now I'm gonna obsess over this. All
Speaker 1 10:21
right. Well, feel free to contact, contact us with your with your suggestions. Oh
Patti 10:26
my gosh, on today's show, we've got breaks to be in town. We've got the boys. The boys are back. We've got the arbitration scorecard. We have our new boyfriends from Houston and from Milwaukee. We've got the World Baseball Classic qualifiers and a little bit of spring training here. Cheers,
Pottymouth 10:44
cheers, I'm so bummed that I didn't fucking fix the microphone in time for that video shot, because we have the backup mic a little baby, like, it's the backup mic. It's fine.
Patti 10:53
It's fine. Hey, so arbitration is done. You know, that was like the cheers. That was the Valentine's Day, you know, big finish. Because nothing more romantic than you know, arguing over your worth. Yep. So there you go. Teams prevail over the players a score from five to four, if that matters to anyone out there. Nathaniel Lowe loses to the last couple of them. Lou lost to the nationals, and Brandon Donovan also lost to St Louis. And in some of these cases, the difference was, you know, for us, life changing money, right? Like half a million dollars on paper, it's this little decimal point difference, you know, and but again, these are people who were told You're not worth what you think. We don't think you are worth what you think you are worth. The final two winners, both from St Louis, Lars, noot, bar and Andre pallante, hey, Lars, they both prevailed last year. There were more that went to arbitration, and the players came out ahead, nine to six. Okay, so fewer time, you know, fewer opportunities. This year, teams prevailed, not by a lot, but by a little. There you have it all right.
Pottymouth 12:02
Well, I'll take it Allie. I just want everybody to be happy, but especially the players, because those are the guys that we they're the ones who make it work. And, you know, I think I've got a happy here with Alex Bregman going to the Red Sox, and I'm trying not to be too giddy about it. And this couched in a whole bunch of stuff. But the but the basics are that he's on a three year, 100 and $20 million contract with the Sox, with opt outs each year, half of its deferred, so they're taking notes. He's actually pocketing 20 instead of 40 million a year. And he gets paid for six years instead of three. So it's not a crazy deferral, really.
Patti 12:40
It's really not. And I do you think his quality of life will be different because of that $20 million every year.
Pottymouth 12:45
He's got a baby on
Patti 12:46
the way.
So baby stuff is expensive, so I don't know. It might be tough. It might be tough.
Pottymouth 12:52
He did turn down a bunch of other offers, and I don't think we know about all of them. We know that the Astros right away gave him a six year 150 $6 million offer that he turned down. The Tigers gave him a six year 171 and a half million dollar offer with an opt out after the second year which he turned down. And the Cubs gave him a four year 100 and $20 million with opt outs which he also turned down. And I hear that, well, it sounds like that. There were others that I'm, you know, I just don't know the details about, but it's kind of like, why? Then you think, and, and fans love to think like he picked us right, like we're the reason. It's actually, it's your dad. Yeah, that must be it. And, you know, Bob will be happy if I come to Boston. I haven't talked to Dad about, oh my gosh, yeah, I'm overdue. All right. Well,
Patti 13:42
your dad be infested the fact that he was part of the 2017 No,
Pottymouth 13:46
no, no, he'll be happy. He's a nice Jewish boy, and I think he'll be okay. And also, so I, you know, maybe I can get that over with. Now with the 2017 thing, this is one of the many, well, one of the reason, I guess, why we can't pick him his baseball boyfriend, because we don't pick Astros who were on that 2017 team. They did bad things. The there are people who had to pay for that, including Alex Cora, who lost a year, including Hinch, who lost a year. Cora is super interested in when he gets asked about this, because most of them, like, just really are good at doing the bull. Durham just steering the thing away. Cora responds and says, We fucked up. I paid, and Hinch paid, and Beltran is still paying. And he really, he really, I feel like is angry about that. That's just ice, right? And then there's, okay, yeah, that's ice. And then this is cocktail. Sorry, folks, this is, you know, really important behind the scenes thing. So Carlos Beltran, you know, was about to be the manager of the Mets that got called off, and he hasn't managed anywhere since. And he also could have gotten into Hall of Fame. And some people think he.
Or teenager, maybe early 20s even, because he's got the little twins, and she's the older one, so old enough to text, let's fucking go to your dad for I mean, from my scale, it's a little low, but still. So then he noticed that he had like, 10 other texts on his phone. Something was happening, and it all went down. The rest of the team really wants him there. And so the other, like, underrated at this point, guy on the Red Sox, Trevor story, who was brought in as this all star shortstop, who missing, you know, pretty much the entire season last year, said that it was cool, because when story was but, you know, before he went to the Red Sox, he said that Bregman was kind of recruiting me to Houston, and now the roles had reversed. And then the press asked Bregman if anyone else had tried to recruit him, besides Trevor story. And he said, My favorite player, Dustin Pedroia, some more brownie points from the pie mouth family. He's gonna be wearing number two, which I you know, I think somebody wore it since then, but Xander Bogart swore number two. But more importantly, Jerry Remy wore number two, who was the the Red Sox announcer who died a couple years ago. You know, beloved, beloved person. So wearing number two is a very special thing to do. The question is, where's he going to play? Yeah, because Raphael Devers is currently playing third base, and and Yoshida is currently the DH. And so how things shake out? Cora kept sort of being like, you know, give us some time. We gotta go through spring training. There's talk about putting him at second. There's talk about maybe sometime at short, there's talk about like, who are they going to trade von Grissom? Does he envy any trade value? Where does he play? Is he going to be in Worcester? Yoshida getting trade, maybe, so that Devers can go into DH, or maybe CASA is getting traded so that Devers can bump over to first. There is a lot to shake down with the Red Sox over spring training, but I am just happy to say that they did do an off season. It's been a while since they did a real off season, and this was an off season. Well, interestingly,
Patti 22:06
did we talk? We're going to talk about our Houston boyfriends in a few minutes, and that move has a lot of repercussions for the Astros. Oh, yeah, because the Astros, you know, were had to have a bunch of backup plans, but weren't sure if they had to go through with the black back up plans until just now. So that affects some of the guys we'll be talking about
in a little bit.
Yeah, the boys are back. So part of that is yay. Spring Training has started, and everyone has reported. But also I'm talking about the boys who were injured and are back. And I'm going to start with Christian Yelich's, just literal back. Okay, so Christian knowledge was my Milwaukee boyfriend in 2019 last season, he was leading the National League in batting average and on base percentage before the all star game, and then his back flared up his backup. It's been a problem off and on, yeah, for a while. So I can get through this. They tried some non surgical things. They didn't work. They didn't work. Finally, in August, he had a dis disc ectomy, back surgery, my friend, and has been in recovery ever since he started hitting in January, which was about when they thought that he would start. So he thinks he's gonna be ready for opening day. He feels good. But you know, when you arrive at Spring Training, there's like, media day, right? And the media has all of these like points about each of the players, and he comes out and he said, I saw before I came out here, that I might be a question mark for opening day. And I'm not sure where that came from, unless something crazy happens here, I don't see why I wouldn't be ready. So that's good news. Back feels good. He feels good. He believes he's ready for opening day. The other thing he's been contending with it all is we talked about him doing, you know, fundraising and stuff for the LA wildfire victims and all of that. His home is in California. In fact, a few years ago, he started the organization California strong. We've been talking about LA strong. He started California strong with some other teammates from the Brewers who have homes in Los Angeles, and so he's been doing work with them. He personally had to evacuate his home twice. He had no damage. It didn't affect his belongings or anything. But he has a lot of empathy for those. He said it could go either way. Every day it could have gone either way. You wake up, you're fine, you don't know how the day is going to end. So that was pretty interesting. Oh, Tanya's arm show. Tanya was my angels Boyfriend Back in 2020 remember that he threw his first bullpen session? Wow, since his Tommy John surgery in September 23 1000 people watched him do this. There were cameras, there were reporters, everybody that there are like 1000 stories saying the exact same thing. And the exact same thing was he threw 14 fastballs to Will Smith. They were mostly 92 to 94 miles per hour. You know, he's just starting out. He's not expected to join the rotation of the Dodgers until May or so, and they don't want to give him a rehab assignment in the miners. Sure, a couple of reasons. They want his bat, right, right? You know, his bats been great, obviously. So they want to keep. That. And they also want to be able to control the environment in which he's pitching. When you're pitching in a live game, anything can happen. So they're going to set up simulation games for him between like through March and August, like every six days or so. So kind of mirroring what he would be doing in the rotation in order to get his pitching ready to go, his hitting is absolutely on schedule. There's no doubt that he would be used to that he would be he'll be starting opening day as far as that's concerned, Freddie Freeman's ankle. Wow, yeah. Freddie Freeman, who was my lander boyfriend in 2018 and yes, the hero of the World Series for the Dodgers, for sure, he had off season surgery to remove bone spurs and some cartilage. That was not where the cartilage should be around Thanksgiving. Remember, he played through these injuries, so Wow, he gave us all for his team, and the moms in us are like, right shit, right? He also began hitting in late January, and I don't know anything about treadmills anymore. I'm not a working out person. There's a micro gravity treadmill.
I haven't been on a treadmill in a while, so he
has been running at quote, 80% weight on a micro gravity treadmill. So I'm guessing it kind of adjusts, yeah, how much pressure you're actually, you know, exerting on the treadmill, and he should be up to full strength next week. But I guess it's a way to get the conditioning going without putting all of your weight on the recovering
Pottymouth 26:25
ankle. My guess is a silver spring y does not have. Maybe
Patti 26:28
not. Maybe the Y is not the place to go for that. This is not the only time I'm going to mention gravity related treadmills. Possibly it's a weird day. It's a weird the things that are going to get repeated today are weird. He did take some live batting practice on Saturday in spring training, but he wasn't supposed to. Wasn't supposed to. That wasn't on the schedule for him yet with his recovery, but he said, I couldn't help myself. Man wants to play. He wants to play. He's probably going to be DHing mostly during spring training. So again, not to stress the ankle too soon, he's on schedule for opening day. But for the Dodgers, that is a few weeks ahead of time, right? Because they're playing in the in the Japan game, though, the the opener, which is going to be March 18, so yeah. So it doesn't have as much time as usual to get ready. Terry Franco, full body recovery, right? Okay. So as you may know, he is going to be is now the manager of the Cincinnati Reds. He took a whole year off to heal up, to rest up. I think I read that he had like 44 surgeries in his like 65 years of life. He's had a lot of things replaced and patched and redone, but he's a manager that's near and dear to both of our hearts because of his time with with the Red Sox, his time with the Cleveland baseball team, a lot of lot of things, right? We really admire him. And he started the same way he has finished. He went to, you know, he's at Spring Training and pictures and catchers reported, and he met with every single one of them, individually, in conversations with every single one of them. Relief pitcher Brett Souter said it's game changer. Energy, wow. He said, I've never seen that happen before. It's I, you know, I went through a wall for this man, sure, that's really incredible. He knows his triggers, and he know he's trying very hard to be healthy. If you've seen him, you know that's really hard for him to do, sure, and here's the things he knows about himself. He delayed wearing his uniform, not because, you know, I'm not ready to accept the dime with Cincinnati team yet, but because, as he said, as soon as he puts on the uniform, he wants to chew tobacco. Oh, wow. He said, I chewed for 40 years. I don't want to, and when I put my baseball pants on, it always makes me want to chew. I'm trying to stay away from that. He's also famous for stress eating ice cream. Oh, he's had a couple of things, yeah, he's, like, ordered like, you know, $40 worth of ice cream from like, from room service and hotels during like. So he was asked about this, you know, you're in Cincinnati, where there's greater is ice cream, which is arguably the best ice cream there is. And he said, It's pretty good, but I'm trying to behave myself. I'm finally healthy for once. That's a weak spot. Wow. I don't even want to go near it, because I have no willpower, and I know that it probably depends on what our record is. So I'm really excited that Terry pancona is back. I'm excited that he's still in Ohio, just because, you know Ohio for me, and yeah, I hope he can hang on to the being healthy and also not lose any things that make him a super special manager.
Pottymouth 29:27
Sure. You know, I just realized talking about body parts, you didn't mention Anthony Rendon, who, shockingly, is out for the season again because of his I'm
Patti 29:35
too miffed. And it's still body, it's his whole body, yeah, and his attitude, his brain, it's his brain, it's his best, it's everything. So I did. I didn't want to bring I had that tagged up. I'm like, Nope, don't I don't want to do
Pottymouth 29:46
it all right. Well, we're gonna move on to add to happier guys, the guys that we're picking this year to be our baseball boyfriends. We've been doing this one guy per team per Well, we do two teams a week, one Al and one nl. And it's because there's something special that. About them, and then we're going to be doing fantasy baseball. There's a lot of chatter about I'm excited fantasy league this year, so I'm super excited. If anyone out there is interested, just listen to the deets at the end of the show. But I can tell you that the spaces are filling up fast. So this week, I've got one guy who has taken his time to make it big, and then the other guy is super fast. So I'm gonna start with the slow guy, Houston. And I'm kind of, you know, fuck it in right down his age, older elder statesman. I know he's over 30. Christian Walker, first base. I will find his this your third Walker, yeah, so this is exactly why I picked him. So I knew nothing about him, nothing, which is kind of sad, because apparently he's actually a very good player. So I really lucked out here. But I had to pick him, because I had already picked the Cardinals, Jordan Walker, and then I picked Tampa Junior Caminero, which means Walker. And so when I just was glancing at the Houston lineup, I thought, oh, I need a first basement too. This is really convenient. 33 he's 33 Oh, thank you very much. So I knew, I knew he's been around. So he he actually is also a good baseball player as of late. He has three gold gloves from the past three years. So I'm thinking that should be a good sign for my first basement I did have a brief panic when I googled the old, what is it, the scandal thing and a conservative influencer came up with the same, with the same. This is like the Republican Congressman that I have met last week, not the same guy. Christian Walker of the Houston Astros is not a conservative influencer, few, few. So way back when, when he was in high school, 2009 he won the international power showcase High School Home Run Derby at Tropicana Field. This is notable mostly because another player who did not win, whom he beat, made the cover of Sports Illustrated because of his 500 foot home run. And that would be Bryce Harper, huh? So Christian Walker beat Bryce Harper in the high school Home Run Derby, and Bryce had a much, much speedier route to the bigs after that point. So Christian was drafted by the Dodgers in oh nine but decided to go out after this Home Run Derby success, but decided to go to the University of South Carolina instead, and did really well there. So you would think that this would have kept, you know, going in the same direction. He won the College World Series with University of South Carolina twice in 2010 and 2011 and then his junior year, they were runner up. His 28 hits during the College World Series are tied for first all time. He was picked by the O's in the fourth round in 2012 and did pretty well off the bat in the minors. He got the Brooks Robinson Minor League Player of the Year in 2014 after absolutely raking in Bowie. And so I'm always thinking like, did we see him play there? He was averaging 301, with 883, ops, and then got moved up to triple A and didn't get much play time in the bigs, six games in 14, seven and 15, nothing in 16, and the O's DFAT him in 17. And my first reaction was, what was going on with the o's, I don't know, whoever makes those decisions to bring people up in those days, because I remembered Mike you right around that time, sort of like, wallowed in the O's minor leagues and then trade into the Giants and boom, he's doing really well. So, yeah, nevermind the outfield. Yeah, yeah. And that was so the funny thing is, that was the exactly the reason why they dfad Walker, because he was blocked by none other than Chris Davis, who they had just signed to a bazillion dollars for a bunch of years, and that fizzled crazily. So the O's did not win that decision. But you know, you win some you just don't know. You just don't know. But the sad part is, when the O's DFAT him at the beginning of 2017 that was the first of three DFAS that he had within a month. Oh gosh, isn't that horrible? Yes. So after the O's DFAT him, he was claimed by Atlanta. Few days later, Atlanta dfad him. They had Frederick Freeman on first he was claimed by the reds. The Reds had Joe evato On first they dfad him, and he got claimed by the D backs.
Patti 34:26
Weirdly, they all knew that ahead of time, so that's what I don't get like, why did
Pottymouth 34:30
they pick him up if they knew that they weren't going anywhere with him? I don't know. He gets bounced around. Goes to the D backs. You know, struggled after this emotional experience, I think, in his first couple years with the D backs in 2018 he had one big highlight, which was two home runs in one game off of Clayton Kershaw. His low light that year was also against the Rogers. And a big reason why he struggled for that year in the following was that he got a facial fracture from being um. Hit in the face by a fastball from Kenta Maeda. His jaw was wired shut for a week, and he was on a liquid diet for a month. And then here's though, like the baseball boyfriend spark that I love about him. He said Could have been worse. My brain's good. He didn't get a concussion, which is amazing. He said, My brain's good. My teeth are good, my eyes are good like you know, just gotta heal up and ready to go. It's interesting that it wasn't worse, probably because he had decided to wear a face guard on his helmet because of being hit on the helmet the previous year by you darvish, who was a Dodger at the time. So in the D bags, he was also blocked by by Paul Goldschmidt, until Goldie was traded in 2019 and finally, finally, Christian Walker gets his chance to shine. Still took him a while, still took him a couple years, but his past three years, like aforementioned, Gold Glove, have been really solid, as well as showing his heart in 2023 he got the D backs Good Guy Award, which is given to professionalism and cooperation with the media, which does not sound easy, but in 24 he got a very favorite award, which is the heart and hustle award. So he was a free agent after 24 signed by Houston in December for a three year $60 million deal. And Houston big need of a good, solid first basement after attempting, you know, with prior MVP, Jose Abreu, who then tanked with them, yeah, uh, Christian also has a lot of other wonderful qualities, um, he has some quality tattoos, including a really beautiful like, he's got a full sleeve on one arm, including a beautiful sugar skull on his forearm, which was to honor his dad, who died in 2016 super, you know, tragically before his big breakout, before his big success. And he talked about how dad was such a key of, you know, sacrificing for him to play baseball. Dad was a steel worker and a crane operator, among other things. He said he did anything and everything to make ends meet, but he made the time to, you know, support him in his baseball. He said after work, we'd drive around together just looking for an empty field to take BP. He was that crazy baseball dad and mom gets credit for pinch hitting a lot, just because dad was working anytime he could. So the the tattoo, the sugar skull tattoo, has marigolds on one eye and an ear, because that's his dad's birth month flower. So always with him. He grew up in Pennsylvania as a Phillies fan, and so the first time that the D backs went to the Phillies in Well, I think it was the first postseason one the 23 NLCS, D backs versus Phillies. Bunch of his friends came to see him. It was a great quote from one of his friends that said, you know, we're here to support him. We're watching him. But quote, still, at the end of the day, it's like him go, Phil, no, they're more points. He has two cats, kit and Dottie, who are named after sisters from a league of their own. But the dogs Jackson Millie are the ones who get to have their Instagram account. Go figure at Jackson May every day. He lives in Columbia, South Carolina, now in the off season with his wife, and he gardens in a greenhouse that he built in the 2021, off season. I'm reading pandemic into that, but also likes to make furniture in his spare time. So he's really like a man of so many, so many nice,
Patti 38:23
oh, that sounds great. What a good pick. What a good pick. So my guys are both looking for the right position to play. They're like they're either listed as outfielders, but are being trained up for the infield or listed as infielders being trained out for the outfield, and are basically in flux. The really overarching reason I picked them is because there's an Ohio boy and a Massachusetts boy, and that's just like us, you know, ish, except for we're not boys boys, and other than that, it's just like us. So for Houston, I picked Zach dicenzo, and he's either a first basement or a third basement or a plays left field, depending who you ask. That could be great for your young he's definitely 24 that's the only thing that we're sure he's okay. The Ohio boy, born in Canton, Ohio, went to high school in alliance, Ohio, at marlington High School, where he made the all Ohio team. Wow. Lovely. Right for college, he went to the Ohio State where he played for four years, which is unusual. Usually it's three years you get drafted after your junior, that did not happen for him. He played a combination of third base and shortstop, kind of moved around a little bit and then a little bit outfield. His freshman year, he won that team the at the house the Ohio State won the Big 10 tournament. He homewarded his very first at bat playing for for Ohio State in a series versus in Michigan, which means a lot to those of us who are Ohio people. He batted 400 with three run scored, a homer and three RBI. So that's kind of super nice. The sophomore year was the COVID shortened year 2020 he was canceled before they played any home games. So that was no fun. I mean, it was no. One anyway, but also didn't get a chance to play in front of their home crowd. He went home taking classes virtually. He was lifting at home. His dad's friend had a batting cage situation, so he was able to do what he could do, like all the guys who got sent home during COVID, you found a way to work out to make it go. His mom is a nurse, so we had kind of a special thing going on during COVID where he said, I have a lot of respect for my mother, because she put herself out there to help people, and is exposed to a lot of stuff. I remind her how grateful I am and what she does to help people. It also makes me not take anything for granted. We do love a kid who appreciates his mom, that's for sure. In 2021 he actually came to Maryland, just up the road from where we are, to play the Colita summer league with the Frederick keys, which is actually part of the MLB draft League, which is one of those spin off leagues that happened when the minor leagues contracted and were reorganized his junior year, he was the Big 10 player the week twice, including the last weekend of the season where he had a six RBI game. Still not drafted as a junior, although he was, he made the academic Big 10 for three years. So smart student, right? So he anyway, so he's there for all four years. So he completed his degree in sports management and he started his master's in Kinesiology. So wow, how about that? He's got a backup plan, right? 2022 he played again for the MLB draft League, this time for the Mahoney Valley scrappers, until the draft in 2022 where he was drafted by the Astros in the 12th round and played out the rest of the season in a single way. 2023 spent in Asheville playing for the high a tourist who I still haven't seen, even though I've been in Asheville, you know, at some point in the summer for a couple of years in a row, trying to and 2024 he started the season with a wrist injury, so on the aisle for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, things happen. Fast. He started up again. Played double A for 22 games, moved up to triple A, Sugar Land Space Cowboys for 11 games. That's it. And then, oh, okay, during that 11 games, he also Homer. Had a homer on his first at bat. So that's a nice little thing to do, kind of over and everybody had 15 hits in his first nine games. Wow, out of those 11, he got his call up from there on august 6, so making the first player from that MLB draft league to make the majors. Hey, so that's kind of cool. So he's part of what people have been calling this youth movement with the Astros, and the general manager of the Astros said, sometimes you have to go with the kids. Yeah, it's just part of what we do in baseball. You see other organizations calling up young players that are playing well, guess what? We have good young players as well, and we're going to have to call them up. If you're not training them, call them up. That's a good answer. I like that answer this first time run with the majors, brace yourself. 437 feet over the green monster. Really, really on August 11. Oh, wow. The Ass the the Astros are one of those teams. When you get your first home run, they give you the silent treatment. Yeah, he was hilarious because he went back into the dugout. Clearly, they're there. They've got their backs turned. So he still put his hand up and kind of walked behind them, and then, then they mobbed him. Yeah, they couldn't hold out for more than a few seconds, right? Four of his first five starts in the majors were at first base, then they tried him out in left field for the next week. They called him faster than he looks. He's six four, so it doesn't look very fast, but he's pretty nice. You might appreciate the fact that he played winter league ball in Puerto Rico for the seven doors to send one. Oh, wow. He played third base for them. He had 361 now, wow. So here we are where he's sort of a natural shortstop, possible third baseman with Bregman gone, maybe. Yeah, he's played a lot of firsts. They've been trying him out in the outfield. We don't know. What he says is they can stick in the lineup wherever, third, first, wherever I'm willing to do whatever it takes to compete and put together some good at bats and play good defense and help them win some ball games.
Pottymouth 44:12
All right. So yeah, that's what the fans want to hear. Heck, yeah, dedication. That's right. All right. So a few weeks ago, you said to me, I can't wait to hear who your forever boyfriend is going to be for this year. We can pick one guy. We can stick with one guy that we've picked in the previous year, but just one. And then sometimes we keep them and sometimes they don't deserve our ever, ever last name and
Patti 44:37
out above, yeah, for a couple years, ditched as soon as he left after the World Series.
Pottymouth 44:41
Oh man. So last year, I had given von Grissom a try, because I had picked him when he was Atlanta, and then he got traded to the Red Sox, and I was all excited, and then it just did not work out. So I looked at that point when you said that, I was like, oh shit, I should really see who I have left. And I looked, and the best one, and I. I feel pretty good about this is my brewers guy, Jackson chorio, center fielder, 20 years old. This is after his first complete season. He is still 20 years old. He will be 21 in March, so no more non alcoholic beer in the baby stroller this year when they make it to the playoffs. When that did happen, Freddie galvis and William Thomas and William Contreras had debated between themselves as to what should go into that stroller. And there was talk of apple juice, which sounds very sticky to be sprayed on somebody, or water, which is, you know, I think that would have been the most logical, or duels. But I thought it was interesting that Eric, Eric has the catcher, who's 31 said, I don't think anyone's going to be enforcing any of the rules. He's a huge part of this team. You should be able to do anything he wants. Wow, Mr. We can't say that with our outside voices.
Patti 45:50
No, we really, you know, you really need those cameras. Yeah, someone's gonna see it. Keep that
Pottymouth 45:55
to yourself. So really, I had a very premature pick last year because, you know, he hadn't debuted yet. Episode 343, if you want to go back into more reasons why I picked him, which interestingly, we had picked Houston, but we had been doing Houston as well. So brewers in Houston were comparable last year, in December, 2023 so this is right before I had picked him. He had signed an eight year contract for $82 million with club options for two 2032 and 2033 and a bunch of bonuses for, like, if you get stuff. So the contract could have been worth, like, win awards and things, yeah, like, those kind of things. Yeah, thanks for
Patti 46:37
like that. Not a
Pottymouth 46:38
stroller like you can get the Rookie of the rookie of the year, but I'm sure there are other things that he could get, like gold gloves and sluggers and stuff, sure. So he could get up to 100 and $30 million over 10 years, and this was the largest contract ever given out to a player who had not reached the Major Leagues yet. I also, at that time, talked about how he's very close to his family, and he wants to be a role model for youth, of which he is one. So I thought that was pretty interesting. But yeah, go back to that episode for more details about the prior time before his debut. But he did debut on opening day, and he was the youngest player to debut as a lead off hitter since Red Sox Hall of Famer Bobby Dorr in 1937 and then things didn't go well. It was not the fairy tale. He had a very hard start. He was batting 176 in April, 215 in May. They gave him time off the bench, but he didn't get sent down at all, which I think is a really interesting move and maybe something other teams need to learn from. But at that point, there was what they called an intervention. So William Thomas and William Contreras, notably prior baseball boyfriend picks of mine, both of them, plus Freddie Peralta, sort of talked to him about calming down and just having fun, like there was a lot of pressure on him to perform, but they talked to him about, just play the game that you enjoy. And Jackson said, I know for a while there things really weren't going my way, but keeping the confidence I knew my moment was going to come, and that's what they gave to him. They gave him that confidence back, and it worked. He exploded. He was batting over 300 you know, from barely at two to over three in June, July and August, and just under that in September. So over the season, it averaged out to a 275, average, 791, ops with 21 home runs, 22 stolen bases, and 79 RBI over 148 games, which made him the youngest player ever with a 2020, season, he was also the youngest Milwaukee player ever, and that includes when Atlanta was in Milwaukee with a multi home run game, which happened to be against Atlanta at the time, on August 8, September 2, against the Cardinals, middle of the sixth inning, he was chatting, just hanging out, talking to Francie montas, and he said, If the bases are loaded When I get up, he's like, No, the bases are gonna be loaded the next time I get up and I'm gonna hit a grand slam. And then he did it. And they all freaked out, because he literally predicted not just like, hitting a home run, but hitting a Grand Slam. And Willie Thomas said we were talking about it, and he was like, I'm gonna hit it. And then he did it. And I was like, oh my god, he really did it. He also got three walks in that game, and he was the only player under 21 in history to have a grand slam and three walks in one game. Not only that, it was actually his second Grand Slam of the season. There are only eight players who hit multiple Grand Slams before turning 21 including people like Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle and a rod. There's only one player who hit three grand slams before 2021 and that's Tony COVID arrow from the Red Sox, who tragic ending to his career the game before shortios, first Grand Slam in June was his first in. Side the park home run. So he got a lot of these first of your career out of the way this past season, and then they made it to the postseason briefly, but they made it the Brewers Mets wild card game. Notably, was the only wild card series to go to three games. The others were all just sweeps, and in those three games, he was batting 455, with a 1.500 ops, he had two homers, three RBI and stole a base. Both of his homers were in game two, which is the game that they won. So he was the second player in MLB history to hit two game tying home runs in a postseason game. So they both of those home runs were key to them winning the game. The other guy who did that, Babe Ruth, in game four of the 1928 World Series. Notably, though, when Ruth did that, he was 33 Yeah, his kid was seasoned. Yeah, he was, you know, all of these wonderful things. Rookie the year. It's a tough it was a crowded, crowded year. He was a finalist. He came in third after Jackson Merrill, and then there was Paul Skeens. Holy shit. You know what a year in the off season, Jackson did go back to Venezuela and played seven games with the agileist, who's played with for several years. In the off season, he only played seven games, which was down from 17 last year, but hit 389, 984, ops with them, with three Carreras impuls, which is RBI, on seven hits and four walks. And of course, the best part is his attitude throughout this struggle, struggle, he still just plugged away. He would be early for pre game workouts. Pat Murphy, the manager, said that chorio never stopped smiling, even when he dropped him in the order, even when he benched him, even when he pinched in him, he still would show up with a smile. And after that intervention from William, William and Freddie, he would go back to them. And every time he did something well, he'd say, see how good I am, what a guy. I like. It
Patti 52:03
Sal Frelick. How have we not picked him before?
Pottymouth 52:06
So this is, like, the one reason why I was not sure I was gonna re pick Jackson, because this is a good pick. This is a super this
Patti 52:13
is a good pick. You know, for you too, I'm for sure. For you, I'm gonna say things like Fenway, yeah, and Dustin, Pedroia and, yeah, that's me. I'm gonna say those things. I love those things. It's actually totally worth it. I think this guy is great. So Sal Frick, fielder, maybe third baseman, maybe definitely 24 that's all we know. That's all we know. He is the cross training kick. He played all the sports. His whole family played all the sports. He's got an older brother who played baseball and his sister in a minute, his dad played football at Pitt, whenever he's a kid. And he was asked for his favorite sport, he said, Well, whatever season it is, the sport he was playing right then, that's great. Was his favorite sport? You know, to be changed in like three months or whatever. He made a choice to go to and stay at public school over prep school. That was important. He went to Lexington High School. So his Boston
Pottymouth 53:06
kid, oh, my God, I know Lexington High School, the town over from us, right? So,
Patti 53:11
so you know this. This is the Boston kid, and that was important to him. And pride of place is very important to him, and that will show through in all of this. He at Lexington High School. He played hockey, football and baseball. He was the captain of all three of those teams. Holy shit, for two years each. That's crazy, right? He was the Gatorade Massachusetts football player of the year, but football player of the year for his senior season, 2017 2018 he passed for 19 140 yards and 30 touchdowns in that season, an opposing coach called him a once in a generation player football. Yeah, wow. So he had offers from Boston College for baseball and also for football. And it's like, I want to do both. And the baseball coach said, no. It's like, okay, all right. It's just, it's just baseball for me. His sister. I love his sister. I love this family. Yeah, I want to drink with this entire family. I want to, I want to cook out with his family, his sister, Frankie, he said she's the best hockey player in the family, wow. Apparently, he said she really bullied us on the face. So she played hockey, but then she went to Duke for softball, right? I think she just maybe just graduated, wow. And then he says, I used to say, if I got in the box against a softball pitcher, I'd hit a home run. I've completely forgotten that statement because I've seen it firsthand. That just sure isn't true. So he was a freshman all American at Boston College. And again, he's, you know, the same age, right, same as we just talked about. And so he would part in his sophomore year. Was that COVID shortened 2020. Came back. The next year, and Boston College had a losing season his junior year. But there's this one game that is going down in history on March 7, Boston College came back from a nine to one deficit in the ninth inning versus Auburn to win the game. Auburn so Sal led off that inning with a single they batted around with two out. So the next two people got out and they batted around and scored and scored and scored, and then when he came back up, he hit a home run to tie the game, which they then won in the 10th inning, he got a Gold Glove for center fields for collegiate players. He was drafted in the first round by Milwaukee in the 2021 draft, a scout said he's bigger than his stature. He's five, no bigger than his stature. He might be small, but his game is not small. He acts like he's the biggest dude on the field, and he knows his game. We talk a lot about culture shock, especially for for guys who who come from other countries to United States to play baseball. Well, he had his own culture shock. Going from Boston to the Midwest, he said, Oh my God, I know where this I'm like, what's going on? No one honks their horn, no one screams.
Speaker 1 56:11
Nobody's flipping you off in traffic, right? Oh my god. So we've
Patti 56:15
also talked in the past about how some teams let are happy to have you go to the World Baseball Classic, and some were not right, right? So he missed his first chance to go to stay at a major league baseball spring training for the whole time because he went to play for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic. In 2023 he had lead off during the four games of pool play, hit 389, with three doubles and four RBI, including a three hit game versus the Netherlands that put them in the quarterfinals. He had a great time, wow. But he had to get permission, and Craig Council, his manager, said, Sal is going to be part of a lot of major leagues. He's going to be part of Major League spring training a lot in the future. Yeah, take the unique experience. There you go. That's pretty cool. It's like, okay, yeah, you should do this, because this is always going to happen for you. So he got called up in July of 2023 called his girlfriend, called his parents, called his Boston college coach, who apparently he still talks to every single day. He's like his emergency backup dad, right? His dad and his brother and his sister made the debut game. His mom did not. Dogs are important. The story, she stayed up with the dog for that first night, right? And said then she was gonna meet them the next day, so that for the whole, like week, the series that, you know, where he's gonna have his debut, she said about the dog, he's part of the family. I couldn't just get up and leave him, right? But then she said watching on TV was pretty fun, you know, she had friends over and all that. I saw things that they couldn't see, like being in the stands. I could see the fans faces. I could see Sal close up. It was a good experience. I had my friends with me. We were yelling at the TV. I could say stuff I probably wouldn't have said there so high amount of possibilities there too. But again, see Boston. Yeah, right. His debut, he went three for three. He scored a run. RBI, apparently he had highlight reel worthy catches in the outfield, and he drove in the game winning run with a sac fly. So he had a fantastic debut right he went second brewer to have five or more hits, including a home run with his within his first three career games. So they started working him at third base after that season, including three days with your pal, Dustin Pedroia, who was his childhood hero, right? He was like, seven when Dustin was getting Rookie of the Year. Yeah, right, yeah. So I don't know if the childhood hero was that they're both five, nine, you know, in whatever. And so they were trying to convert him right to, like, to third base, and then all of a sudden, well, we might need you in the outfield. So again, he's been trained up for this, maybe in the outfield. His first time back in Boston was the following, May, Milwaukee was playing a Fenway. This was his big homecoming right his the Lexington folks basically sprung a pregame ceremony, and Fenway right, they declared it, you know, Sal freelick day, that's in Lexington. They had his coaches and his teachers and family. He did a lot of volunteer. He does a lot of it. Does a lot of volunteering, clearly, with Best Buddies in Boston, and so all those kids were all there at this it was pretty stunning. And he talked about going to Fenway like he said he grew up there watching games. He said, Sure, because he's got an April birthday. And so he and his dad, his dad would take him there as like a birthday present for opening day almost every year. Chile. So Fenway, lot of memories there, right? His mom and his sister missed the Fenway game because his sister see plays softball for Duke above was and mom went with her to the softball Super Regionals, NCAA division one softball super regionals in Missouri, where she homered, of course. So that's okay, too, right? One of the things that happened was the kid showed up in a little league. Jersey for the Lexington Little League, which is where, of course, South Philly played, gave the kid an autograph, and the kid was just like, lost. It's like, I met a professional baseball player from Lexington. I can't believe so again, he'll see it be it, right? You know, yeah. And I know Lexington, yeah, you do. So he won the gold love for right field in 2024 right? His first, like, full season, wow. He led the National League in defensive run saved, and he only had three errors the whole season. So he wins the Golden Glove, and his coach from Boston College, who is like this backup dad, texts him and says, I'm proud of you, but I'm more proud of you for the person you are than for this. Oh. And then, you know, when interviewed, he said things that are a little a little more gender than I appreciate, but I get the sentiment, which is, he's the guy you want your daughter to marry. He's the guy you want your son to look up to. He's the guy you want to have a big at bat with the game on the line. If Sal did not go play the big leagues and he was working at an accounting firm, those things would all still be true. Ah, he said, When Sal was a freshman, my son was three or four, so he didn't know enough to know who the good players were, but he'd go sit on the bus and hang out with Sal. Oh, that's pretty cool, right? So towards the end of the season, September 28 he was trying to catch a foul ball. Had all these acrobatic catches in the outfield, crashed into the right field wall, injured his hips so bad he couldn't even get up. So on crutches for a couple day, days, thought he was like out for the season managed to work it out in time to be part of that, the wild card series that you talked about, where he hit three to 64 in this series. So no time to go into all the volunteering buddies. Volunteer of the Special Olympics with Best Buddies. He said, Back to School drives and Milwaukee hospital visits, and he saved a damn stray dog. So wow, this guy is kind of a good guy. Yeah, he's a good guy. So yay for self. Really, I'm looking forward to following him much more closely next week, Baltimore and San Diego. How about
Pottymouth 1:01:50
that? Wow. All right, stay tuned. If anybody has any hints on Baltimore and San Diego, just get in touch with us. We'll find out in just a few minutes. Super I think quick international rundown, because Saturday del Caribe is over. The winter leagues are over, but World Baseball is still happening. The qualifiers for the World Baseball Classic are starting this Friday, so World Baseball Classic is coming back next year. 2026 we had so much fun with 23 but fuck 'em. Fuck Florida. We're not going to Florida. It's not pretty these days. However, there are other places, so maybe we can entertain some of those right now. We're not going to Taiwan, but especially on Friday. But South Africa, Nicaragua, Taiwan and Spain are playing in Taipei, Taiwan. Interesting. And this is always something that very much pisses me off, is the insistence of using Chinese Taipei for political reasons. When it's team Taiwan, and we will call them Taiwan, they should be able to wear Taiwan. It is really shitty, especially in a in a in a series that they're hosting, that they're being referred to as a name that does not fit. However, when they talk about where the series is being played, it says Taipei, Taiwan. So therefore the team that's playing from there should also be able to use the name Taiwan. It is a very kind of bitter thing for Taiwan, because they should not be having to play in the qualifiers, because they did pretty fucking well in the last World Baseball Classic, which would usually be an automatic continue. But it was that group A in 2023 when all five teams were 500 they all one had did the same fucking record. So it went to run, runs allowed per defensive out recorded, and they just didn't quite make it. They were right under Panama, unfortunately. So here they are hosting and playing the qualifiers. They're going to be playing Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then the first place team, after those three days of play, goes on to the World Baseball Classic. The other team that goes on is the winner of the game between the second place and the third place team, which gets played on Tuesday, which I think is kind of a cool way to settle it. More baseball, more baseball. And the same thing is going to be happening next, the following weekend. Is it the following weekend? I don't know, the first weekend of March. It seems like that should be the following weekend, which is going to be happening in Arizona and over there, Brazil, Germany, China and Colombia are playing. And the fun fact out of that series is that Manny Ramirez's kid Lucas Ramirez and Dante bichettes Kid Dante Bichette Jr, are both playing for Brazil, Brazil, one might add, especially with both of those names, it turns out that both of them married Brazilian women, so and so. Both of these kids have Brazilian moms, and the chances of that are two in a Brazilian I'm so proud of myself.
Patti 1:04:59
He. My love for you knows no bounds. No, no, bads. What are you drinking? No, we never,
Pottymouth 1:05:06
Oh, we didn't. No, I think I did the oh, there's still some left the Blood Orange Crush. It's still the Blood Orange Crush. I'm finishing the crush. Yeah,
Patti 1:05:14
you are. Hey, I will look you hard note. I'm not sure if I'm happy. I think I like this hair. Pete car Armstrong, who's my this year's boyfriend with the Cubs. Last year, showed up at Spring Training with bright cubby blue hair. This year he's got cubby blue stars on his bleached hair. He says he just bleached it. He was just getting it cleaned up. He just wanted to get it cleaned up. And was with, you know, his girlfriend, and apparently his girlfriend's little sister is a tattoo artist. Oh, and says about her, she's a very talented artist overall, and I trusted her to paint, and she kind of egged beyond and convinced me to throw some big blue stars out my head. Wow. So he did. So he's got big blue tattoo jars. No painting, okay, like, painted with hair, all right, that poof, yeah, because I kind of like the solid blue. It's like the bleached color with the with giant blue stars on it, which is super fun. And he said last year, you know, I had three or four hairstyles. Who knows what's gonna happen next?

Yeah, as long as it's dye and not tattoo. I just saw Marcus Stroman got his head tattooed. What did he do to it? The whole head is tattooed. But what just, I don't know. I didn't look at the pattern, but he's, I think he just ran out of body, and so he went to his head. He also did not show up on time for Yankees spring training. So that's a whole nother thing, you know? I wish no ill against the Yankees. All right, we did it. We
Patti 1:06:36
did it. I'm gonna be away next weekends. But we don't worry, we will, we will find a ton. It's a frivolous February, oh, and my family and so there will be some wacky gift exchange. There will be frolicking and festivities and other F related things.

Next week. I am not gonna go. I'm
Patti 1:07:01
thinking fun, right? Yeah, all of those kinds of food, right? All that is happening next weekend. So we had a little bit of a road trip with our intern, and back back in time to record. Don't you worry.

Okay, I just wanted to put out there in the universe that we're at episode 394, which is fucking amazing. Like, who would have thought that we would have done this? Which means 400 is just along the way. And it actually, if you work out the dates, it's the night before the O's home opener. So I'm wondering, and which is against the Red Sox, first of all, we need tickets. And second of all, I don't know, we need to think of something unique. So if anyone has suggestions, let us know. Yeah, we need
Patti 1:07:43
to know about that. What are your ideas about that? What are your ideas for for the drinking cycle? Because I, you know, I added my whole situation, and also your thoughts on the whole anthem thing that's happening right now and how that might play out for you personally, or what you think about it. For the big picture, you know where to find us. Oh, also, if you're interested in our fantasy league, I will be sending out the rules not too long from now. So hold your questions, and they will be answered by the the very comprehensive document, which you don't actually have to read. You can just ask me the questions later, but they're there. I promise the answers are there. So where can people find us? On social media? Sure
Pottymouth 1:08:20
you can find us on blue sky at ncib podcast. If you message us on Twitter, we will also get it. But I am so so so so many shades of angry at Elon Musk that it pains me to open that fucking app. I am so pissed. All right, I'm diverging. People find us not quite as pissed at Mark Zuckerberg, but you know, he still sucks. However, you can reach us on both Instagram and Facebook, at no crying and bee ball. You can write us directly at NCI, be podcast@gmail.com, or you can join our fun friends. Thank you so much, guys on Patreon, P, A, T, R, E, o, n.com/no crying and be ball. I think I always fuck that up. It is no crying B ball. But yeah, find us there, and we will communicate with you and send stuff and post things and and give you shout outs and all sorts of fun stuff.
