A Sliding Scale of Villany
Patti 0:00
Hi and welcome to episode 438 of No Crying in Baseball, the I'll Lose Everything Betting on Adley episode. My name is Patti. I'm here with my friend. Pottymouth. Hey, Pottymouth,
Pottymouth 0:25
hey, how about that? Sports betting?
Patti 0:28
Yeah, yeah. I think this is more betting with my heart and not with cash. That either exists or doesn't exist depending on who's doing the betting. That's a good Yeah, yeah. It's catcher day for me. So we're gonna talk about a couple of catchers. You're gonna catch some catchers. I'm gonna catch gonna catch some catchers. I am so sleepy. It's road trip season. I have completed one of two road trips, and by completed, I was in the passenger seat the whole time, but still. But it's a lot of family and rapid succession, and then there'll be a whole different side of the family and rapid succession, with a very relaxing Christmas at home in between. And I can still, you know, I'm taking two solid weeks off, but I would really like a couple of extra days, yeah, in there, like, just, like, between now and, like, we're recording on a Tuesday. What is today? Tuesday? Right? Today is Tuesday, yeah, so we're late, and it's my fault because of car trip, because there was just no way to fit in recording on my little holiday thing. So sorry, we're a day late, but we are not $1 short. You're gonna get your full value. And I think we're gonna do the same thing again next
Pottymouth 1:21
week, absolutely. And next week, it's, it's mutual responsibility, because I'm leaving at the crack of dawn tomorrow. Holidays are so relaxing, sure, and driving into the snow, apparently it's snowing, yeah? So that's really fun. And I'll be there till next Monday, when we drive back. So, yeah, next Tuesday we'll be doing this again.
Patti 1:40
Yeah, I don't even know. So I'm going to be in, you know, upstate New York, so I could be driving into snow that it's still several days from now. So it doesn't even matter if you check now, yeah, what happened? But it's immediately important
Pottymouth 1:49
to you, maybe bring your microphone, just in case you get in there. All right, oh, no, yeah, they're actually, I was noticing that they are tracking a storm for next weekend, and that would be bad for both of us. Yeah, a north northeast.
Patti 2:01
All right, yeah, all right, we're gonna have to time it well, so we're at whoever has the best guest rooms is where we have to end up. That's the plan. That's the plan. But it's also the holiday season. It's not just
Pottymouth 2:12
road trips, it is. So we are between holidays. We ended Hanukkah yesterday was technically the last day, and star
Patti 2:20
Christmas tomorrow, Christmas Eve. So really this, we're slicing the slicing it right down the middle here.
Pottymouth 2:25
Here we go. And we have not really festive beers right now, but we have, we're both drinking 6464
Patti 2:33
years, 60 in my 64 referring to the car, to a beautiful, beautiful red sports car.
Pottymouth 2:38
And it is a West Coast IPA from Calvert brewing not Yeah, so Calvert brewing is somewhere in Maryland. Do you know where it is? Calvert County? Okay, yeah. I'm just like lying with exact figures here, makes sense. But, um, yeah, very tasty. And then later, oh shit, I was gonna text him. We usually split a beer with Mr. Potty mouth before recording. But because our recording time is little wacky, we're going right to the backup beers, but then at some point, Mr. Potty mouse gonna be coming in with Santa's butt, and we'll talk about Santa's butt when it gets dear.
Patti 3:07
That's a promise I don't care to keep that's gonna be thrust upon me. Up Santa's what's gonna be thrust upon me? I can't believe I am now buying into slandering Santa.
Pottymouth 3:16
I think it's, it's complimentary, right? Sure. Well, we'll see how much we enjoy Santa's butt again.
Patti 3:23
I beg you to stop. I beg you to stop. On today's show the luxury tax. It's not just for monopoly anymore. We've got boyfriends from Baltimore and Atlanta. We've got the police blogger featuring wander and Tyler, and we've got international baseball cheers before we get going, I just want to point out to those of you who are newer to the show, we're going to talk about Atlanta a lot. We don't use their given name. So we either say the Atlanta baseball team, or we call them the hammers, because our like, very low key campaign is, you know, if you want to honor Henry Aaron, change that damn Tomahawk to a hammer, and we will be all in for you. So we'll either be saying the Atlanta baseball team or the hammers
Pottymouth 4:04
Absolutely, yep. All right, in more Christmas news, so we're going to be talking about our baseball boyfriends. We do that in the off season, the guys that we pick one per team because they're cool, and we try to keep up on the guys that we like that we've picked in past years. And last year, I picked big Christmas. So it would be an appropriate time of year to reflect a little bit on big Christmas. John Kenzie Noelle of the Cleveland team, the Cleveland guardians. We can say that, good to say that now and the Cleveland guardians, DFA, big Christmas, right before Christmas. There is something wrong about that. That's a whole thing. You know, the timing. I mean, I understand why they DFAT him. He had a mighty disappointing year. Last year, his big you know, when everybody got all excited about his potential was in the postseason of 2024 when he tied up the game three of the ALCS in the ninth inning to beat the Yank. Use. And then things didn't go well for Cleveland after that, but we all appreciated his like Herculean effort with that. And then in 25 he kind of tanked. He had a 162 average, 480 ops in 69 games, he did not help the potty mouth posse. He was on my fantasy team for a brief moment last year. And yeah. So the the Cleveland guardians had to make some space for a left handed pitcher, understandable. So the only other trade, well, that wasn't a trade, but the only other, like movement of players related to former baseball boyfriends. I wanted to mention, is my former baseball boyfriend, Wilson Contreras. I picked him way back when he was with the Cubs. He was a longtime Cubby, and then when he went over to St Louis, that was a whole like, cubs don't go to St Louis kind of thing. And then they moved him from catching to first base, and now he's moving from St Louis to Boston. Red Sox, so I theoretically should be excited. I have picked him in the past. He's a good dude. He's pretty solid, but he's not spectacular. I am. I really am a little perplexed, honestly by this, because they picked him up. They need. What they needed was a big bat at first base. He's okay at first he was, he's a converted first baseman. He's not a huge bat. And they got rid of Hunter Dobbins, who was a rookie pitcher last year, went four and one, four wins, one loss, 413, era, plus two prospects and one of Hunter Dobbins is wins was actually his debut against St Louis. So, you know, maybe it's just a little bit of Kismet. He, in his debut, went five innings with five K's. So I don't know. Best wishes for Hunter Dobbins. I was actually really excited to have him on the pitching squad this year, but I guess we will see
Patti 6:48
some of the big news from last week is going to lead me into a little vocabulary lesson. Okay, I do this vocabulary lesson over and over again because I never remember it either, so it's good to remind me. So you'll see the phrase luxury tax. What that actually is, is the competitive balance tax. That's what it's called in the collective bargaining agreement. So this last Friday, the competitive balance tax numbers for last year for the 2025 season were released. The headline is that the Dodgers had to pay a record $169 million in tax alone, in this luxury tax, this competitive balance tax alone, there were 12 teams whose entire payroll was lower than the luxury tax that the Dodgers had to pay. 12 of them second place for the second highest competitive balance tax owed was the Mets at $91.6 million but even so, 91.6 and then you jump to 169 million. That's a lot. So there were nine teams who had to pay this tax. That number of teams is also a record. There have never been that many teams that went teams that went over. They include the Yankees, the Phillies, the Blue Jays, the padres, the Red Sox, the Astros and the Rangers. Yeah. So here's what that means. The competitive balance tax means that a baseball franchise has to pay an additional fee or tax for going past an agreed upon payroll limit, and that limit changes year to year because they account for, you know, various economic indicators. They determine it. They determine what that team owes based on the average annual value of each player's contract on the 40 man roster, plus additional player benefits, so salary plus extras, right? And that's calculated at the end of the season, so an extra, like an additional player benefit, would be things that aren't being not paying money to that but for instance, Shohei Otani has a full time interpreter. That's part of his contract. They are not paying Shohei Ohtani that amount of money, but they're providing that interpreter, and there's a cost associated with that. Juan Soto has private security for himself and for his family. They're not paying that to him in cash, so it doesn't show up in a salary, but it's an additional benefit. So all of those things get rolled into what the payroll is for a team, and that's what they base this on. Now, this year, the threshold, like you weren't supposed to go past $241 million on salary you pay out and plus these additional benefits. Now, the amounts that you pay in penalty accumulate the longer, the more consecutive years you go over the limit, right? Which is why say back to back World Series is, and how what they paid to get there would cause this huge amount of money to be owed by the end of January by the Dodgers. So if you're over the limit, so probably most of these nine teams are over the limit for the first time, a lot of them. So paying 20% okay, of what the payroll is, that's the tax. If it's two years in a row, you pay 30% if it's three. Years in a row, it's 50% and also, at some level, you you get dinged on your draft picks. So if you continue to behave badly, you you're like, top draft pick gets pushed back so many steps. So they really are trying, in a couple of different ways, financial and also, you know, effectively for the draft to get these teams to kind of keep this spending in line. So, you know, this record setting stuff is going to come up when they talk about salary caps and bargaining, for sure, but it's just a lot of there's a lot of math in baseball. I'm sorry, there's just, there's so many things. But when you hear competitive balance tax, yeah, the same thing was when people say luxury tax. And the important thing is, it exists in the CBA that that was bargained, that teams need to pay this if they go over these things. So there you have it.
Pottymouth 10:46
I'm just, I'm perplexed by the Dodgers, because they have so much deferred. So does that mean that that's going to count towards luxury tax in those years when? Yeah, those
Patti 10:57
so it's annual value. So if you know you're paying shoyotani for 30 years, or whatever it is, you know, 20 years out, that whatever you're paying out in those salaries is going to be on that year's bill.
Pottymouth 11:06
So at some, at some, some point, maybe this will catch up with them. Or maybe they, I feel like,
Patti 11:10
I feel like it's caught up with them just, I mean, right? I mean, I think when it starts, when they start getting to the point where it's going to ding them on draft picks, that's going to be like out crap. We got it. We got to cut this down.
Pottymouth 11:20
Yeah, well, all I gotta say is they better fucking sign Kike, damn it, because he's sad. All right, we are on to Baltimore in our backyard, one of our favorite places to go, Camden Yards. And I had it took me a while, like that. So the good thing about Baltimore is there were a lot of players to pick from. So one of the conundrums that we're getting into this year, which I had with Atlanta, is that a lot of teams are full of guys that we've already picked, and we can only keep one guy over and so it gets a little bit tricky. Whereas Baltimore has so many young guys that there were plenty to pick from, and I sort of it was hard to find one that was like, That guy I want to hang out and have a beer with. So I looked for a couple of signs. And then what I always hate is when I get, like, really deep into the dive and I find something that goes, no, not that. And so that's kind of where I am with Jordan Westberg, third base, 26 years old. There's a lot that I like about him, and so I'm just gonna, kind of like, you know, take a big swig of my beer, and I think he would still be fun to hang out with despite, you know. And there it's nothing that's like, never going to be a boyfriend thing. So Jordan westburg was drafted in good old 2020 by the ozaden, Mississippi State. And I actually realized that when he was on the Delmarva shorebirds, which is the A of the Orioles, in August 21 I had gone to one of their games for the first time. But lo and behold, he had already moved up. He moved up fast. So he moved up to buoy that year, and then aaa The next year, in 22 he was actually an all star in the minor league for both 21 and 22 and then he debuted in 23
Patti 13:04
you also have seen him probably at a local high school, because he played in the Cal Ripken collegiate baseball. How did I miss I don't know, but
Pottymouth 13:14
he did all right, there's my bad research was, do you know which team
Patti 13:17
he was? I'm feeling like it was gaithersburg. Wow, yeah,
Pottymouth 13:21
shit, I didn't write all the details on this. I really thought I was gonna come back to this. What a fucked up weekend. He his debut is beautiful to watch, and hopefully we can link it so that you guys can see what I forgot to take notes on, because he had all his buddies behind the plate, and they're enthused like they were right behind the plate. They got the primo seats, and they're enthusiastically cheering him on. And there was a pitch calm incident, and they had to, like, stop the play, and then they started the play again. And then there was another pitch calm instant, and he ended up getting a walk on his on his first at bat, and just the enthusiasm of the and there was a rain delay involved. Like, there were all the shit that could happen, did happen, but it's the the friends and the enthusiasm that I really admired about that. The other thing that I like about his the power of the people who watch him. Because, you know, I like feeling powerful when I watch baseball, so I like to think that the people in the stands have a little bit of power, and parents, of course, should have all the power. He seems to win awards whenever his parents visit. So when his parents went to see him in Kansas City in 2024 he got ale Player of the Week right after. Apparently they had a track record on this, because in May of 21 when they went to see him, he got the minor league Carolina, Carolina Player of the Week with the shorebirds after they visited nice. And then also, when he was in Mississippi State, he got the player of the week after parents visited. So I guess you can only like visit so much. But I think they really got to get it and get it in gear so that he can get more of these awards. 2024 he had his banner start. So debut in 23 took off. In 24 he was an all star. And then the injuries started happening, and I'm feeling like I got a little bit of a I have a track record here with injured. Injury plagued boyfriends that have chosen at this point, but I'm gonna hope they can't all continue to have problems with the injuries. He sound of Patty, no, right? All the wood. Thank you so much. He fractured his hand. August of 24 being hit by a pitch. And then he was out until the end of September. September 22 25 was not good. And I remember actually us going to the yard and like counting on fuck he's still out, kind of thing. He was plagued by injuries. He was out from April 28 to June 10 with a hamstrings pull after a struggling start, like he didn't start right. So I'm sure the hamstring wasn't good before April 28 and then when he came back, he came back like blazing from June 10 to the All Star break, 293, average, six home runs, 615, RBI, despite jamming his finger on a head first slide against the Yankees on June 21 in the last three days then, then he re injured. It lost another week, then another hot run, July 18 to August 18, 310 average, and then sprains his ankle at Fenway Park, August 18, and he's out four weeks, and he's not back to form when he came for those end of the season, 12 games. And I think it was just, you know, trying to get back. So he only played 85 games, but he tied the lead for home runs for the Orioles with 17, tied with Gunnar and Jackson. So here's exactly what I had said a couple weeks about Emmanuel Rodriguez. So the twins, who had a bunch of injuries, they're all different, right? So he it was a hamstring, but it wasn't always the hamstring, and it was a hand and it was a hand and it was a finger and it was an angle, so maybe, like, you know, it's not going to be recurrent, like, they're all going to get better. What cemented the choice was that he was the Clemente Award nominee last year for the Orioles, and that's something I really appreciate. The Orioles do a lot of really good things for Baltimore, and they adopted Elementary School. I know you talked about this before, I think when they first did it, and Westie was very involved with it, and he and his wife not only went to the dedication ceremony for the outdoor classroom that was constructed with the support, but he also got in there and read with the kids. And that's the thing that we always like is like when you're actually putting your body into the work and doing the stuff and connecting with the people. And he and his wife have also done more volunteer work in Baltimore at an organization called Share baby that provides diapers and basic baby needs to folks who need it. And he said, regarding this nomination, I just want to use this to maybe leave a mark outside of baseball, to maybe make an impact on people with the interactions I have, with the love I can give that is beautiful. So I should fess up with my the thing that I was like, oh, fuck, is that? I mean, and this isn't bad. He let, he leads Bible studies with a group with with the team. And that was one of the things in the Clemente article, when I got to that, that said that was one of the things that, you know, was a positive thing about him, is leading, leading team Bible, Bible studies. And just met, the thought in my back of my head is like, is that a real team event?
Patti 18:17
Like I don't, I don't think it's compulsory. I think it's those who would like to attend, he No, and I think it's Yeah. So what I think about those things when I went across those it's like, okay, if one of my criteria for picking a guy is somebody I'm going to want to have a beer with, right? That would likely, you know, lower them, right? Like, you may not be the coming, you know, having a great time. Yeah, over an adult beverage guy, but you're probably a good dude. Yeah? So yeah, that's kind of how that's always the kind of things we're wearing. It's not like, Oh no, you can't be boyfriend because you did a terrible thing. It's like, you do a thing that I don't enjoy talking about with you, so that just lowers you on the list.
Pottymouth 18:53
I just want to make sure that nobody who's on the Orioles who doesn't want to do Bible study feels exclusive.
Patti 19:01
No, I can't imagine. No, that.
Pottymouth 19:04
No, yeah, that's, that's the only, that's actually my only concern with it being like under the team umbrella, you know, kind of like the Kershaw cheering on the faith day, or whatever it is.
Patti 19:17
I again, I firmly believe none of that's going to be compulsory. All right, yep. All right. So what's the team with Jordan? David Rubenstein, yeah, right, right, right. I'm just saying, okay, so you guys are bored with me, and I don't care, but I am leaning into once in forever boyfriend. I am continuing with Adley. It's catcher day for me, at least 27 he has been my once in forever boyfriend since his debut in May of 2022 I'm keeping him. And I will say this is the first time I considered that like maybe I won't, because who did I have in my stable? I have Pete Crow, Armstrong, yeah, who I really enjoy. And I thought, You know what? Though I. Can't quit him. I mean, he's had rough time and all that, but he's just that guy. He's just that guy that speaks to me that I'm like, You know what? You're a keeper. You're a keeper. I'm gonna like, I'm gonna believe in you, and the team is believing in you right now. And okay, so here's my story. He only played 90 games in 2025 before this past season. He was never on the aisle the whole time. Wow. No. Are so different for me? Well, except for this year. No. So, right? So this year twice, right? Yeah, one for each oblique, one for each oblique. I think the guy's got to do some yoga or something. I don't know what's happening. So, like the season started, he he had two home runs on opening day versus Toronto, including a 436 foot home run in his first at bat. So we're like, whoo. Here we go. Here we go, Adley. And as Adley went, so did the Orioles. Yeah, right. So that game, that game the the team hit six, a franchise record, six home runs, which, which is, like the record for opening day, and two of those were adleys. And then, you know, 68 games later, he left, he had a left oblique string. June 21 so he was out for a while, came back late July. His comeback was great. That first game, also against Toronto. I'm just saying he had, he had a double from both each side of the plate. I mean, it's like, Okay, I'm back. I'm back. This is great. And then, you know, 17 games later, right oblique strain. August 21 didn't come back to the last week of the season, so there wasn't a lot of Adley. So his bat fell off a lot, like he had these like, glimmers of, like, fantastic stuff and, oh, that's the old Adley. Yeah, that fell off. But his catcher, like, his his connection with the pitcher, his ability to call games, his ability to throw somebody out and to, you know, to stop the you know, and to frame pitches is good, is still really, really good. So he's keep he's got that sums up with the bat. Hopefully, you know, obelise can do that to you. I'm hoping, I'm hoping the off season cures us. We'll see. I believe in you. Adley, his hitting coach is in my head. Here's what his hitting coach said at the end of the season. He said, I'm always going to be extremely optimistic about Ali Richmond. I'll hold that line until the day I'm done being a hitting coach. Those types of talents, they don't grow on trees, they don't appear out of nowhere. You're always going to take a bet on it. I'll lose everything betting on Ali regiment. That's how I feel. I'm sticking with you. I just, it's a gut, it's a gut thing. Adley said at the end of the season, he's like, you know, because they had, they ended, had a terrible season after the season before, he said, Nothing, nothing's given to you in this league. I really believe everyone's going to take this to heart and be ready to go when they come back. So I'm hoping, I'm hoping Michael is the, you know, GM said Adley is our primary guy. So here's where it gets weird, right? So Sam Bisaya got his call up, right? Brand new catcher, and already they gave him an eight year, six, $7 million extension, and they said, Well, you know, he'll, you know, he'll share catching duties with Adley. He'll also play some first base and some DH. And then they got this guy, you might have heard him, Pete Alonso, right? So now there's like, three guys that are, you know, are part of the DH, you know, kind of equation there, and Sam and Adley will, you know, switch off of catching, and then Sam might be part of first base if you know, Pete's DH day, I don't know what's happening there. For a hot minute. They were talking about Adley being a, you know, a trade possibility. That's what our lives was like. Nope, nope. He's still our number one guy, and I think it's because of the leadership stuff, and I think they need him to get beside you in shape, because besides the hot bat, but doesn't have the defense and the relationship with the pitchers yet, because he's brand new. Yeah, that's the stuff that comes. It comes later. He doesn't have it yet. So I think part of his that so Adley, that so Adley becomes a free agent after 2027 I'm sticking with him this year. Please don't prove me wrong, Adley, I'm telling you the whole world right now that I believe in you.
Pottymouth 23:50
I came this close that you all can see this, right? It's very, very small, tiny, tiny, this close to picking Sam pasayo, because intriguing, yeah, and the Isn't he like, have they extended anybody else?
Patti 24:04
So this is what's interesting, no. And when they extended the Scio, what they said was, I mean, we have to stop now, because here comes Santa's butt, right?
Pottymouth 24:15
So Mr. Potty mouth, just brought us two glasses of Santa's butt as well as the bottle, thank you with Santa's butt on it. So this is Santa's butt. Then wait, is there still some in here? It's just a cold bottle, Santa's butt, winter Porter. And it's quite a porter in the butt. I guess over here I get the words are very, very small, and I can't I'm
Patti 24:38
just saying, you've all heard me asked potty mouth to stop saying those two words, and you see that she hasn't right? I'm just saying
Pottymouth 24:45
of the United Kingdom. So Santa's butt has traveled again, right again. So Mr. Potty mouth got in the door and was kind enough to split Santa's butt three ways. Then bring us some. So we will report I still have plenty of the 64 left. I have no idea what to do here. Yeah, we should try Santa's butt again. I say, please stop. I'm begging you. I'm begging you. Not bad, it's nice. Okay, all right,
Patti 25:14
okay, oh shit, it's my turn. Yes, where was I? Where were we? Didn't I interrupt you? No, you were talking about thinking about picking beside right? Oh, no. We were talking about extensions. I actually had a story about that. Okay? The story about that is when, when we talked on the show about Sam besayo and getting an extension, David Rubenstein was like, we are open to hearing from others of you to say you're interested in staying. And he was implying it was implying it was a two way street that he needed to hear from other folks, like, like Gunnar was saying things like, I want to be on a winning team. And he was, at that time, wasn't seeing the team like, make moves that would show that. And as soon, as soon as the O signed Pete Alonso, phone started ringing, and the guys were like, Okay, I'll stay. All right, I'll stay so things may happen. So they said, like, yeah. So these players, it seemed like they needed that signal that we're spending money, that we want to be a winner, and we're making moves to do that. Because, like, last thing they all saw was, you got rid of Cedric Mullins, you got rid of, you know, loriana you got, you know. So they were, like, sent in there. Oh, yeah, a little bit of a fire sale. So, like, you don't want to win anymore, so why? Why should I be the one to cough that up? So there may be more extensions triggered by you're willing to spend real money on Peter Alonso, maybe you're serious. Maybe I want to stay.
Pottymouth 26:33
Can I just say so, the one thing I looked at with with Jordan Westberg too, is he was part of that, like, frat house thing with him and Adley, and he complained about the mattress. Actually, he had a bum mattressed up his back a little bit, yeah? But like, they all, they look like brothers, those dudes.
Patti 26:48
Yeah, there's, there's a lot of interchangeable, yeah, if you want to describe one, so that could be anyone, like six of them.
Pottymouth 26:53
And Pete Alonso looks like the older brother. He's like, Who's the oldest? Osmond? He's like, That guy, yeah, you know, and like, gunners made, oh no, Jackson holiday would be Donnie. Isn't Donnie the youngest, I don't know.
Patti 27:05
Anyway, there's Jimmy. Jimmy was the youngest, but Donnie was the youngest that actually had any Jews.
Pottymouth 27:09
Okay, so, yeah, yeah. And actually, yeah, all right, Osmond, fun. So wow, we went places right now, I don't know what to drink. There are too many open bottles on here. Let's talk about the hammers
Patti 27:24
before you get there, before you become hammered.
Pottymouth 27:27
So I chose Eli white. So here's where I may have made another mistake. So after like this, Jordan Westberg, like, Come to Jesus, moments, like, about him exactly. I'm so confused Exactly. So after that happened, this is what happens. And it was just my holiday. It was like a talented third baseman who, you know, had but, but Jordan, it wasn't like a knock over your head kind of thing. It was like he's doing this to provide, you know, camaraderie. And anyway, I was gonna do Austin Riley. I was like, There's parallel here. Austin Riley, also a religious third baseman. It's Christmas time. Maybe I'll go there. And then I found the new you know how we always Google the guy's name in scandal. Now we get to Google the guy's name in Maga. And I swear to God, the first time I did that, something problematic came out about Austin Riley. And then I tried again, and I couldn't find anything. So I
Patti 28:25
don't commented him last year, and said, Nope, yeah. So it was that kind of
Pottymouth 28:29
a thing. The big thing with him that got me and I was, I was talking this out with Mr. Potty mouth was the the hunting because I chose, I chose Charlie Blackmon, who's a hunter, and, this body mouth said he wanted me to choose Austin Riley despite the hunting, because he's like, you know, I really respect hunters. If you're going to eat meat, it's much more authentic to actually bag it yourself and do that. But there's something about like, the picture on his website with him and the dead turkey. And I don't know. I just I definitely could be shooting myself in the foot because Austin Riley is also shooting the turkey exactly in the butt. Or what is that?
Patti 29:07
I don't know. That's not where they're aiming. No, you're a butt girl.
Pottymouth 29:12
That's, yeah, that's, we all have our taste. I anyway, back to Eli white, not a hunter. He is. He's also probably not playing, but he seems like a nice enough guy, and so that's the level, that's the level that I go with my Atlanta pick. He's an outfielder slash utility, 31 years old. I like the versatility. He played all three outfield positions last year, and he played a little bit of second base in 24 and in spring training of 25 so one can hope, because he actually is, and you talk about like the natural position, or whatever he played coming up. He was a shortstop. He was a shortstop in high school. He was drafted out of high school, actually, where he was in Greenville, South Carolina, and the 26th round by the reds. And said, No, I'm gonna go to Clemson instead. Good choice started. He was the starting shortstop at Clemson. He got drafted after his sophomore year in the 37th round, back when they did that. That's not, not anymore, right? By the pirates in 2015 and of course, you know that's a worst round. So he said, Nope, waited out till the end of junior year, much better drafted by the A's in the 11th round in 2016 when he played in the Cape Cod League, it was his first time off of shortstop, still in fields, and the the season was cut the summer season was cut short by injury, but enjoyed his time in Cape Cod. Then when he went into the minors. He literally played every position except for catcher and pitcher. So he was traded to Texas after he did not break out to the major league level with the A's, traded to Texas in 2018 in so many players involved, seven players, three teams, Tampa's involved, and then came to Atlanta in January of 21 for cash, he had a just a few games each year after getting traded to Atlanta on the major league level, until 2025 last year, he actually played 105 games. So there is a possibility that I could use him. He did debut with Texas before being traded to Atlanta, and his first three seasons in Texas were not pretty, but not a lot of games. But his last two years with Atlanta, I'm going to be, you know, glass half full of Santa's butt right here. You know, kind of person that shows promise, and especially in the clutch. So I'm thinking I might be able to use him off the bench if I play it. Pay attention. His average was 234, 676, ops on the season. But check this out. As a pinch hitter, he was hitting 471, with a 1294, ops. I heard a really cute interview with him, where he calls himself a young 30, which, you know, appreciate guys over 30, when you're when you're in this game, and we're like limited so often to rookies. It's nice that I have a couple of guys with some experience this week. He is, and this is one of those, like history books, Hall of Fame things. He is the first major league baseball player with a regular season home run in Tennessee, because last year, the hammers played in that against the reds and the speedway. Yeah, right. So he got a three run home run in the third inning. And actually he wasn't even supposed to play Ronda Kunju Jr might have heard him outfielder for Atlanta was hurt, so Eli subbed in last minute, gets a three run home run in the third inning, and then again in the seventh inning, gets a solo home run. So he is the first, I guess, in second player to hit a home run in Tennessee. But that means that all four runs that were scored by the hammers in that game were due to Eli white, they won four to two, and nobody else homered in the whole game. So he is now the only person who is homered in an MLB game in Tennessee. But he had actually homered in Tennessee before, not on the major league level, but he was with the Nashville sounds, and he got 14 home runs when he was with them in 2021 He credits his speed. So he's known for his pinch hitting and his pinch running to his older brother, because when he was younger, he used to practice picking on his older brother and running away before he could catch him, which is a really good way to speed. Yeah, sure. He has family in Atlanta, so he's enjoying his time with the hammers. His mom's family is actually in Atlanta. And then, you know, he grew up in South Carolina, where his dad's family still is. So he gets that home team support when they're when they're at home. And so, you know, I don't know, keep my eye on him if he I don't think anybody else in the league is gonna, is gonna pick him. So maybe I can sub them in. Once in a while, we'll see.
Patti 34:04
All right. All right. Like I said, it's catcher day for me. Um, once again, I am picking an Atlanta catcher. Last year, I picked Sean Murphy, who's gonna feature quite a bit as a story, as a supporting role in my description here. But My guy is Drake Baldwin, 24 catcher who, in every single thing I read about him, referred to him as the bright spot in a dismal season for the Atlanta baseball team.
Pottymouth 34:27
We're talking about Atlanta now, which is early, which means they did not do well,
Patti 34:31
right, right? Exactly. A couple of things about Drake, other than the fact that you know, Rick, you're not a bad pick. I do love a catcher. But also there was some hockey and some smarts. So there's a lot of things that I care about that exist in Drake, Baldwin. So he is from Madison, Wisconsin. His dad is, I quote, not in the picture when, you know, often, like for Father's Day, they profile, you know, a player and their dad. And he always refers to his grand. Grandfather, and he says he lived with his grandparents and his mom, and he said that his grandparents and mom were at every single game I played, whether it be football, hockey, baseball, all of it. So his grandfather was very special to him. His mom super important in his life. We're gonna like her a lot because school teacher and involved in exactly the right ways. So I do have to take a quick little hockey you know, side turn here from high school, because he was the top scorer statewide as a high school junior. And he's in Wisconsin. He's in a cold state, which means there are a lot of hockey players that you're competing against. This is not saying, you know, I was like, one of the best in a tiny, warm weather state where almost no one plays hockey. So it's kind of a big deal. He said he practiced on the concrete floor in their basement, and was, you know, taking shots at the net, which was against the wall. And he said, Well, it was a cement wall, so I didn't do too much damage. There were probably little black marks everywhere on the wall to say how good he was. He once scored six goals in one game, three of them were in the first seven minutes of the game, holy shit. So he picked baseball well, because why not? So Missouri State was recruiting him pretty hard, so they invited him to come with his mom, and they did the official visit, and they did all the things they were they were they shown, you know, at their best, you know, we're gonna put you up in feed you well, and you're gonna be all the right people. And then he and his mom said, we're gonna go back when it's kind of on our dime, and just kind of see what we think. So they hopped in the car, drove eight hours, you know, from Madison to Springfield to check this place out. And the story is being recounted by his college coach from Missouri State, who said, and this is the coach. I'll never forget. The department head of our School of Business met us at 8am at the baseball stadium and sat down with them for 45 minutes to an hour, because the mother they were that interested in the education part, which they should be. But I've never had a department head come to the baseball stadium before. So that's the kind of person she was while at Missouri State, he was awarded the Missouri Valley Conference elite 17 Award, which was the student athlete with the highest GPA in a championship final. So, yeah, that that kind of like that continued on with the family. He was drafted in third round in 2022 by the hammers. You know the usual, like, we're moving up through the the minors. In 2024 was in the futures game. He homered in the futures game. Baseball America named him the 2024 Atlanta prospect of the year. So good things were happening in the minor, minor leagues. Okay? He debuts on opening day in 2025 he had, he he got an invitation to spring training. You know, we still in the mines. He got he was invited spring training, and it became clear he was going to be on the 40 man roster, but he ended up on the actual lineup that day because my boyfriend, Sean Murphy, had a broken rib in in spring training. So the good thing for Drake was he knew a week out that he was going to be starting the game so he could get a hold of his mom in advance, instead of, like the night before, saying, wherever you are, drop everything and get here. And she's a teacher, so it was spring break, so it was perfect. So she was able to go to San Diego, that's where their that's where their opening day event was. So he throughout the season, he shared catching with Sean Murphy, and then he took over full time when Sean Murphy had season ending hip surgery. And September, yep, the guy that I had on my team to back up, Adley, who was out a lot because of oblique strains, both left and right, so. But anyway, Drake was like, would not have been called up. He wasn't like, Ready. Ready. They said he's very mature for his age and Sure. And this is like Sam beside a little bit, and that his bat was more ready than his defensive catching was ready. But he's playing with Sean Murphy, and also Sandy Leon came up later on, and who he worked with in the minors. And so he had these veterans to work with, and he said that Murphy was helpful all the time, like, wasn't, like, intimidated by the here comes this kid, like, crawling is gonna take my job. No, I'm gonna help him. And so they had a really good relationship. He also goes to all the pictures with questions. Apparently he and Chris sale kind of had a thing going, because he caught Chris sale on opening day. That's crazy, for instance. So there was that who was like, I think, like, 12 years older than he was at the time. So that was, that was the whole thing. But veterans and coaches were saying that he's a sponge. He's, like, always asking questions of everybody, kind of soaking up the answers, which I think is pretty cool, right? Snicker said, you know of Murphy and Baldwin. I think they're each other's biggest supporters, which is pretty cool. So he's ending the season of 2025 season among all national league catchers, not rookies, but all national league catchers who played at least 80 games. He was second in batting average, behind Will Smith, and fourth in on base, percentage and slugging and ops among all catchers in the National League. And this was his like rookie. The Season. Among all Atlanta players with 200 or more played appearances, he was second in average and ops, behind only Ronald lur. He then, yes, won the 2025 national league Rookie of the Year. He had 21 first place votes. Chicago pitcher Kate Horton got the other nine. So for a while it was kind of neck and neck, but then he pulled ahead again. He's the first catcher to win rookie of the year since Buster Posey won it in 2010 and here's your second vocabulary lesson for the day. Prospect promotion incentive the PPI program, which is also in the collective bargaining agreement, which is there to encourage teams to not screw young players over with service time, call them up right away. Are they? Are they close to ready? Call them up on opening day or in the first two weeks, and good things will come to you as a franchise, right? So, for instance, so he was, he was PPI eligible because he was on the opening day roster, and because he was on that roster and one Rookie of the Year Atlanta gets an additional draft pick. There were 11 PPI eligible rookies in 2025 to the player. The benefit is service time, right? You're not getting screwed over for service time. You have to have a certain number of years of service time to be eligible for arbitration and a certain number to be able to free agency. So you want to complete those years of service time as efficiently as possible, because that gets you to a higher salary sooner he finished. Okay, so for instance, if you're eligible for this, but you're not on the roster for the first two weeks of the season, and you do get for rookie of the year, like you either win or you get second place. Can you say Adley rushman, who debuted in May, Adley, Richmond, gets the benefit. He gets awarded a full year of service time, even though he only came up in May, and the Orioles, in that case, got nothing because they didn't bring him up. Whereas for Drake, Baldwin, the Atlanta team, got the benefit of the extra draft pick as well. So if the teams kick in, which they have been earlier, they get benefits as well as the player getting benefits. Baldwin finished the season with 19 homers, 18 doubles, 80 RBI in his debut season, which is pretty cool. In addition to Rookie of the Year, he also got the players choice outstanding national league rookie. That's the one that's voted on by the mlpba, MLBPA members. So that's pretty cool. That's like, you know, the the jury of your peers, right? He at the end of the season, he said it went by pretty quick with how fun it was, the amount of really good guys who make it worth going to the locker room every single day and going out there and having a lot of fun playing baseball. I don't know if I've wrapped it up completely yet. It's just surreal right now. It was just an incredible year, and the incredible year continues because his rookie year bobblehead is going to be at the March 31 game next week. We're talking about the athletics and St Louis.
Pottymouth 42:41
So one more thing about Drake Baldwin for you to be proud of that I noticed when I was looking into him. He just graduated from college in this off season. Oh yeah, after Rookie of the Year finished his degree. Smart so when you're talking about the smarts, I was like, Oh, that makes sense. Yep. Pretty cool. All right, athletics in St Louis. Please help us, because I don't know what I'm going to do and I can't pick a picture, so right? Please like feel free to write in. We will let you know how at the end of the episode. And now, cue the police sirens. It is time for the police blotter, and I'm going to give you more to wonder about. Wander Franco, we were following the trials and tribulations of his. He had a relationship with a very, very young woman, and he had been paying the young woman's mother. And there was a trial, and the young woman's mother got more time than Wanda Franco did. So basically, he was, he was convicted of shit. I should have looked at the actual stat, the actual conviction, but something to do with trafficking a minor or statutory rape. And he was, you know, up for a very sizeable amount of prison time, and was ended up with two years of a suspended sentence, so zero prison time. However, a felony conviction, which would, you know, stop him from playing ever again in Major League Baseball, and importantly, right before all this shit went down, he had a record breaking long term contract with Tampa Bay, so they put a shit ton of money into him. He absolutely fucked it up in the worst way. And this past, I think it was two weeks ago. At this point, his verdict was voided, and there is going to be a new trial. Do we know what happened? No, I don't know. Just trying to figure it out so his, I think it's basically an appeal that his, probably very well paid lawyers poked holes in the original trial. But there was an article it's going to be linked. I forget where it was in Florida newspaper that talks actually, this could be. Risky for him because he was given no jail time so he could have walked. He wasn't going to play an MLB, but I don't think he's going to play in him.
Patti 45:08
He's not going to play anyway. He could be, you know, forgiven, right? You know, leak criminally, and no one's going to right? So that's the
Pottymouth 45:15
thing is, MLB has not, you know, they usually wait for the legal stuff to shake out before they finish their actual investigation. So MLB has not concluded their investigation, so who knows what they're going to come out with it and like, what are they going to do right now? He's already missed 360 games, so are they going to suspend him more than that? Like, if this were to all be just, you know, wiped under the rug. What happens with MLB? But also, there's a risk in retrial, because he could actually be sentenced worse than two years suspended sentence. The victim is now 18 years old and can testify in court, so before, she was shielded as a minor, and now she can speak up. So who knows what she has to say? Who knows how this new court situation is going to go? But I can't imagine, even if he's found not guilty, which seems fucking bizarre given the evidence that we've all seen, what's going to happen to him as far
Patti 46:18
as his career. Yeah, and I wonder if there's a financial risk to the raise, yes, yes. Is there?
Pottymouth 46:25
Yes, there absolutely is, because if he is not guilty, then they're on the hook, right? Oh, geez, yeah. So then it comes down to what is MLB defined, and what do they decide? So there's a lot of balls in motion at this point. I don't have the date of the retrial, but I will look into this a little bit better after I am off of Santa's butt and ready to do some research. This is really good.
Patti 46:54
Sorry, you're not sorry, you're not sorry, and you're not stopping. You don't love me anymore. I get
Pottymouth 47:02
that celebratory, I'm gonna take a picture of Santa's butt and post it on our Patreon. Absolutely. Patreon folks, stay tuned. Santa's butts coming. It's not the religious part, right? It's the fun part.
Patti 47:17
Anyway, okay, all right, it's fine. I'm just, you know, really stressed out about the holidays. You're like, you know, doing all this, and I ask you not to. It's fine. I'm fine. I'm fine. Hey, more policeball. Tyler Skaggs, okay,
Pottymouth 47:31
this is fucked up. Oh, my God, is angels,
Patti 47:36
is it? Well, so here's what happened. So if you remember Tyler Skaggs picture for the angels died six years ago now wrongful death. It was, well, okay, that's that's actually the the lawsuit. So the angels settled the wrongful death lawsuit with the family of Tyler Skaggs after basically five years of litigation. The current trial was about two months long. They haven't made the terms of the settlement public. We don't know how much money is involved and what other agreements have been reached in this so the jury, after the two months of trial, started deliberations last Monday, and this settlement was agreed to Friday before the jury reported back with their decisions. Now the jury, in the intervening days had asked some questions about that. That led, that led everybody involved to believe they were going to pin a lot of this on the team, right? So the team's like, okay, so they settled. So in the meantime, separately from this, the criminal trial happened in 2022 Eric Kay, who was the former communications director for the angels, is currently serving 22 years in a federal prison because he was convicted in the criminal trial, because he is the one who provided Tyler's with this fentanyl laced pill, which is the thing that you know caused his death. Now, one of the interesting things that would have been involved with the jury awarding damages is the jury was a way, was weighing fault on a sliding scale, like they are saying, like Tyler Skaggs has responsibility, had responsibility for his actions. We know. What did the angels do or not do? What did Eric Kay do or not do? It wasn't like there wasn't one villain it's a sliding scale of villainy, basically. So the statement by the angels regarding this settlement was the death of Tyler Skaggs remains a tragedy, and this trial sheds light on the dangers of opioid use and the devastating effects it can have throughout the course of court proceedings, both parties searched for a path to a mutually agreed upon resolution this. They could have released the statement no matter what happened, but there you go. So again, the juries, jurors who were interviewed later had said they'd already made a decision, they just hadn't reported back yet in court, and they would have included punitive damages against the team. Yeah, but they said it would have been reduced by some percentage through deliberations about how much responsibility Tyler Skaggs himself had. Like, you know, they're not they weren't going to pin the whole thing on the team, but the team was at fault. So there's all of these pieces. Like, yes, there was the availability of these opioids. Yes, Tyler Skaggs was actively consuming them and seeking them out, and what level of oversight did the team had to make sure people were following the rules and not harming themselves, right? And how much of that were they doing, and how much were they just looking away saying, Oh, don't worry. It'll be fine. It'll be fine. So the family's statement after the settlement was this trial exposed the truth, and we hope Major League Baseball will now do its part in holding the angels accountable. While nothing can bring Tyler back, we will continue to honor his memory. So again, lots of lots of fault to be spread around on all the parties involved. I don't know if any meaningful change will happen to you know, league policies or team responsibilities, or player responsibilities. This has been pretty visible for a long time. So now, now we sit and wait and say, Okay, do you have policies on the books that everybody wins at, or do you have enforceable policies that people pay attention to? And if they don't, there are there are consequences before people are harmed by this? Are there, you know, is there therapy and treatment and preventive stuff you can be doing with your players ahead of time? So it doesn't get that far, you know, there's a lot of areas to be so it's not just like, oh, MLB can do its part. It's like, Nope, there's a lot of pieces.
Pottymouth 51:34
I'm just wondering how much more blame there is around the angels organization that got swept in the under the rug because it got quietly settled instead of being exposed as a as a judgment. Yeah.
Patti 51:47
I mean, some of the jurors were saying, Oh, we probably would have, you know, assessed this much or this much, and those numbers are fake. It doesn't matter, you know, we don't know what the angels ended up. And part of it's going to be like, Okay, if we just give them money. Now we can stop talking about it. I don't think so. I hope not. I hope we're gonna keep talking about it, but I hope we're gonna talk about
Pottymouth 52:08
it in a meaningful way. All right, I'll try to end on a happy note. World Baseball Classic is coming up. Gear up. It's coming up this March. Team USA is fucking stacked. It's insane. So check links for actually, who's on it, but Mookie bets not. Son is not on it because he has a baby coming. His wife said, don't even fucking think about it. I'm paraphrasing here, but like, Yeah, I think he knows what's right. And the Dominican Republic is also stacked. I'm excited to watch, I guess, from our armchairs. Venezuela watching your arm chairs. Yeah, we'll be watching downstairs with maybe, I don't know if there'll be any more Santa's, but
Speaker 1 52:48
Venezuela unrelated, and you still found a way.
Pottymouth 52:51
I really like it. It's really good. This is not officially announcing. Venezuela not hasn't announced their team other than Captain Salvador Perez, but there was a discussion by, I want to say, the manager of Venezuela that there is a bet between Juan Soto and Ronda Acuna Jr, about, if one team wins, the other player is going to have to win wear the jersey of The other players. So like, if Venezuela beats Dr then Kwan Soto, I'll have to wear a kunya Junior Venezuela jersey. Yeah, I see that thing. So, so that is the kind of bet I can get behind. Yes, I love those. Love those. Winter League Baseball is happening right now, and it is oh so exciting in Venezuela. So let's stop, you know, one more thing about let's stop attacking ships in Venezuela. It is. There is so much baseball happening, we would love to keep these players absolutely safe. So this is fucking ridiculous. Just, you know, fucking read the Epstein files and let go of Venezuela. Jackson chaudio is playing with his brother, Jason on the Aguilas de sudia. Right now they are the fourth place team. My team, cardinales de Lara, has clinched their playoff spot by beating the tiburones. So that means baby acunas team has beaten Big Brother's team. At this point, the cardinal is moved up to number two. Last time we talked about it, they were fighting for that five six wild card spot. The tiburones are right now tied with the Tigres for the six seven. I'm doing the six seven thing for those of you who can't see
Unknown Speaker 54:32
everybody, but don't worry, I'm enjoying it.
Pottymouth 54:38
So we'll see who actually gets into the wild card. I don't know Ronald, you know your little guy is, is moving up there, lead on Dominican Republic, the guy that I talked about a couple weeks ago, my new pick for Colorado, Troy Johnston, went back down there, not Dominican. Has fun playing there with the tortoise Torres del Este and. You know, not my team, but I wish the best for Troy. It's good to see him getting in some at bats. Juan Soto got permission from the Mets to play with the Tigres. Daily say, so this is a big fucking deal, because the Tigres are the reigning champions. They're being challenged all over and with Juan Soto coming down, that's a little bit of, you know, a little bit of an advantage for the playoffs, but my Leones de las Cogito clinched, so they will be in the playoffs, and junior Caminero, who was my baseball boyfriend, picked last year based on his heroics with the Leones last year, has not yet joined them. It is not yet clear if or when he will, but there's a lot of scuttlebutt, so we're hoping that he will make it seria de Caribe. So after all of these teams get their championships, what happens is the champion team from each country sort of used to play in the Caribbean series, the serie de Caribe, and that has the who's participating has gone up and down each year. And this year it was down to four teams, which seems kind of fucked up right there, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Venezuela. And it was going to be happening in Venezuela. Well, things are happening around Venezuela that are making all sorts of folks nervous. So this past week, the first step that happened was the DR Puerto Rico, and Mexico said we're not going. So if you're having a series with four teams and three of them aren't going, that's really not very good for the series. So basically, there were a few days of just chaos. What's having with the series the Caribbean? It's been going on for decades. What's going to happen? And then Mexico said Guadalajara will do and volunteered to host the series. So at this point, and while that chaos was happening, Panama, who wasn't originally going to be in it this year, got in the mix of being host. So now they're also in the mix for the series. So the current plan, the way this is all washed out, Venezuela is pissed off because they still want to host. Just nobody wants to come. So Mexico, Guadalajara is hosting, and the teams participating are Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico a and Mexico B. Now I don't know what players get to be on Mexico a, and who gets to be on Mexico B, if it's like their first place team and the second place team,
Patti 57:26
as far as city and JV, are just two different teams, I don't
Pottymouth 57:29
know, but Mexico B, or Mexico has said that B will bow out if Venezuela decides to come so there was this little bit of a lull. The other thing that happened is apparently Cuba was going to participate again this year in Venezuela, because they're kind of friendly, but now that it's in Mexico, Mexico said no to Cuba. So Cuba is now as well all this stuff going on. Cuban baseball Federation actually said the change of scenery doesn't justify not letting Cuban participate. We deserve it, and we deserve fair treatment, and this is not sensible for our sport. So just to give a little bit of history on this, in 2018 things have been rough in Venezuela for a while. Last minute cancelation. Went to Guadalajara. Was supposed to be in Venezuela. Went to Guadalajara, and then they said, Okay, next year 2019 we're going to give it another shot, see if it's going to work in Venezuela. Didn't work. Went to Panama City. Venezuela did successfully host in 2023 however, there is a reminder that the Women's World Cup was there in 2010 and that went very poorly because a player from Hong Kong was actually hit by stray bullet during a game against the Netherlands. So there's a lot of history with Venezuela hosting international baseball tournament us blowing up ships. Right, right? There's about it might be there's this year. Yeah, I think this year, that's what it's about. I think this year it's not just the blowing up the ships. It's the, you know, sable rattling about an actual fucking invasion. And things are so fucked up now, and our fascist in chief is so looking for any distraction that a big distraction would be invading Venezuela. So it's fucking terrifying, and especially we have, you know, all these players down there right now. So I don't know if y'all remember, but I talked earlier about there being sort of an alternative serie de Caribe called the serie de las Americas. So the American series with countries that somehow got left out of this Caribbean series situation. And those countries include Nicaragua, Colombia, Curacao, Argentina. And so they had planned on doing this alternative series of their own, which is fine, like more teams, more fun, more baseball. I'm all for it. It was supposed to be in pan. Ama the last week of January, during 24th to 30th, and the Serie A de Caribe usually happens the first week of February. Now at this point, things are super fucked up, because Venezuela has reached out to them saying, actually, if you want to come here, we will host you at the same time as the Caribbean series, which gives you a little bit more time to plan. I don't know. Panama is now saying what's going on, although Panama is given the incentive of, if they let it go and let Venezuelan host the serie of the Americas, they actually get to play in both because they get to send their championship team like every other country, that team would go to Mexico to the serial de Caribe, and their national team would go to Venezuela for the Serie A de las Americas. Seems like a win. Win there. Yeah, so I don't know. It depends on if they want to host or not. Panama could get double here, Cuba would go to Venezuela, and I don't know, we'll see what happens. But bottom line, let's not saber RA in Venezuela. Things are saber rat. Yeah, that's it too much Santa's butt, but that's why I'm swearing that's the only, the only relationship there. But there, there's baseball to be watched. So stay tuned, folks, stay tuned.
